The honest take

Skip the table — read this instead.

If you take more than 5% COD orders

COD Affiliates is the only app on this list that respects the COD payment timing in its commission state machine. WEBI COD Affiliate gets you partway there but bundles a COD form provider you may not need. Everyone else will pay commissions on orders that cancel — silently, by design, because they were built for card-first stores.

If you take 100% card payments

COD Affiliates still works fine — Shopify marks card orders as Paid instantly, so commissions flow to Confirmed immediately. But you won't use the COD-specific features. Refersion has the strongest ecosystem at the top of the market; ReferralCandy dominates referral marketing specifically. Pick on ecosystem, not COD.

If you want the deepest marketing automation

UpPromote is the most feature-dense app in this list — email sequences, multi-tier MLM, landing-page builders. The partial COD handling means you can make it work for COD stores with manual config, but it's not its strength. For COD-heavy stores it tends to feel like driving with the parking brake on.

If price is the constraint

GoAffPro's free plan and COD Affiliates' Free-for-first-100 promise are the only meaningful free options. UpPromote's free tier caps quickly. Everyone else is paid from day one. If you're testing the waters, install COD Affiliates and lock in the grandfathered Free plan — even if you're not COD-heavy yet.

Stop paying commission on orders that cancel at the door.
